The Parish of Jesufrei has always been a point of human settlement, see the archaeological remains of the castro das Ermidas in the vicinity of this parish, which confirm the human presence in this region perhaps since the 4th century BC, in the Iron Age, and the later Romanesque Monument, the Monastery of Arnoso. Or Buraco do Olheiro, with its medieval bridge, which still remains for pedestrian use. This is a historic, mysterious place with curious legends.
