It can be walking or cycling. One way or another, you'll be delighted by the route that the Ecopista do Tâmega opens between Amarante and Cabeceiras de Basto. It is a cycle path that takes advantage of one of the most emblematic railway lines in Portugal, closed in 1990. You'll be surprised every kilometer you ride: by the forest landscape, the view of the mountains, the villages, the vineyards. The beauty of the natural heritage imposes itself on a smooth and, most importantly, accessible route for everyone. The river Tâmega runs very closely along almost the entire route. The Tâmega Line Ecotrail is part of the European Greenways Network, starting at km 12.467, in the city of Amarante, and ending at km 51.733, at the old station of Arco de Baúlhe (Cabeceiras de Basto).
